Plot

Itllu Arjuna tells an unusual love story, built around a young man who cannot speak. Arjun, played by debutant Aniesh, is mute, and he has silently loved Keerthi, played by Anaswara Rajan, all his life. The film’s central question is a simple one with no simple answer: how does a man who cannot say the words tell the woman he loves everything he feels, and what happens when silence is no longer enough to protect that love?

Around that romance, the film builds action and emotion in equal measure. Arjun’s journey takes him from quiet longing into situations where he must act rather than speak, and the story mixes love, family feeling and thriller elements as his feelings finally collide with the world around him. Presented by Nagarjuna and produced by director Venky Kudumula under What Next Entertainments, it is a debut vehicle with an unusually emotional premise at its centre.

Performance

Aniesh makes his acting debut as Arjun, and the role is a demanding one for a newcomer: so much of the character has to be played through expression, gesture and silence rather than dialogue. The teaser and songs suggest a performer who understands that stillness, letting Arjun’s feelings show in his eyes and his body language. It is the kind of debut that either announces a new actor or exposes him, and the early material leans strongly towards the former.

Anaswara Rajan, as Keerthi, gives the romance its other half, and the pairing’s chemistry has been one of the talking points of the film’s musical promotions. Vennela Kishore and Mukesh Rishi add experience and texture to the supporting cast, with Kalaiyarasan and Elango Kumaravel also in key roles. The ensemble gives a first-time hero a solid frame to work within.

Screenplay and Direction

Mahesh Uppala makes his directorial debut with Itllu Arjuna, and the concept itself shows ambition. A mute hero’s love story could easily become sentimental, but the film’s approach, judging by its teaser, is to treat Arjun’s silence as a dramatic engine rather than a gimmick. The screenplay moves between romance and action, using the moments when Arjun cannot speak to create tension that dialogue could never produce.

The direction also benefits from a strong production backing. Venky Kudumula, a director with a proven sense of commercial storytelling, produces the film, and cinematographer Raja Mahadevan gives the teaser a rich, polished look. The film’s promotional campaign, from the New Guy in Town idea to its songs, has been carefully built to introduce a new hero without hiding the film’s emotional core.

Music

Thaman S composes the music for Itllu Arjuna, and the songs have already become one of the film’s biggest strengths. Tracks like Hai Re, Chinni Chinni and Yellow Chunni have drawn an encouraging response, with the Yellow Chunni number in particular praised for its ballroom choreography and the chemistry between the leads. Thaman’s tunes give the romance its lift, and the slow melodies grow on the listener in the way his best romantic work tends to do.

The background score will matter even more in a film whose hero cannot speak, because music has to carry feelings that dialogue cannot. Thaman’s orchestration in the songs already shows that understanding, with melody doing the emotional work. If the score follows the same instinct in the film itself, it could be the element that turns a good premise into a memorable one.

Themes

At its heart, Itllu Arjuna is about love without words. The film asks whether devotion can be communicated fully through action, patience and presence, and whether a lifetime of silent love is a strength or a failure of courage. Arjun’s muteness is not just a character trait; it is the film’s way of asking how much of love is ever really said out loud, even by people who can speak freely.

The story also touches on the courage it takes to be seen. Arjun has watched from a distance for years, and the film’s drama comes from the moment he must step forward and risk rejection. That is a universal feeling, and it is why the premise connects beyond its unusual setup: most people have loved someone in silence at some point, even if only for a little while.

Conclusion

Itllu Arjuna is one of the more interesting romantic films of the season, because it trusts its premise and its newcomer. Aniesh and Anaswara Rajan look like a fresh pairing, Thaman’s music is already popular, and Mahesh Uppala’s direction gives the story room to breathe. The postponed release date, from 30 October to 13 November, only adds to the sense that this is a film the makers want audiences to discover properly.

For viewers who like love stories with an emotional idea at their centre, rather than just songs and fights, Itllu Arjuna is worth waiting for. Watch it in theatres from 13 November, and keep an eye out for the trailer, which arrives on 4 November.

Note: the official trailer for Itllu Arjuna had not been released at the time of writing — its trailer launch was announced for 4 November 2026 — so no trailer embed is included here. The film’s teaser and songs are already available.
