Plot

KillR is a science-fiction action thriller built around a mystery that refuses to sit still. Its lead character, Jyoti, played by Jyoti Poorvaj, is introduced in ways that keep the audience guessing: is she a spy, a vampire, a superhero, or a terrorist? The trailer deliberately withholds the answer, and the film’s story is said to be driven by artificial intelligence, with a layered, futuristic world and a three-timeline narrative that reframes everything the audience thinks it knows.

The science-fiction element comes from an experiment: after a meteorite strikes, Jyoti becomes host to a symbiote-like force, and the film follows what that power does to her, and to the people around her. Poorvaaj, who writes, directs, edits and also acts in the film, builds the story around twists rather than exposition, and the makers even offered a one-crore reward to anyone who could guess the film’s second-half twist. That confidence tells you a lot about the kind of film this wants to be.

Performance

Jyoti Poorvaj carries KillR, and the role asks a great deal of her: reports suggest she plays six different roles across the film’s timelines, which means the performance has to change shape while still feeling like one character’s story. Her screen presence in the trailer is confident and physical, and the action sequences are built around her rather than around a male co-star. For a science-fiction thriller on this scale, that centrality matters.

Poorvaaj himself, along with Manish Gilada, Chandrakanth Kollu, Vishal Raj, Archana Ananth and Gautham Chakradhar Koppisetti, makes up the rest of the cast. The supporting players have to ground the film’s stranger ideas in recognisable human behaviour, and the trailer suggests an ensemble that takes the material seriously rather than treating it as a joke. That sincerity is what gives a high-concept film its chance to work.

Screenplay and Direction

Poorvaaj’s screenplay is built on withholding information. The teaser kept audiences guessing about Jyoti’s identity, the trailer added science-fiction elements without explaining them, and the film itself is structured so that the second half recontextualises the first. It is a risky approach: a twist-driven film lives or dies by whether its surprises feel earned, and the one-crore challenge shows the makers know exactly how much is riding on that twist.

Visually, the film aims higher than its scale might suggest. The trailer was launched by director Harish Shankar, who praised its technical quality, and the cinematography by Jagadeesh Bommisetti gives the futuristic world a polished, distinctive look. The direction keeps the pace tight and the action front and centre, trusting that the audience will follow the timelines if the momentum never drops.

Music

Ashirvad and Suman Jeeva compose the music for KillR, and their work here is more about atmosphere than songs: reports note that the film has no songs at all, which is a deliberate choice for a thriller of this kind. The score has to carry tension, mystery and the strangeness of the science-fiction premise, and it does so with electronic textures and driving rhythms rather than melody.

That absence of songs is actually a strength for the genre. Without musical breaks, the film’s tension never fully releases, and the audience stays inside Jyoti’s world from start to finish. The background score becomes the film’s heartbeat, and Ashirvad and Suman Jeeva use it to signal when the story is about to shift, which in a twist-driven film is half the storytelling.

Themes

KillR is, at its core, a film about identity. Jyoti is presented as many things at once, and the film asks which of those identities is real, and whether a person changed by science, by power, or by trauma is still the same person. The symbiote idea, familiar from other science-fiction stories, becomes a way of asking how much of who we are comes from inside us and how much is imposed from outside.

The film also touches on technology and control. An artificial-intelligence-driven story, a secret experiment, and a character who may not fully control her own power all point to the same anxiety: what happens when the tools we create start making choices for us? KillR does not answer that question neatly, but it uses the thriller format to make it feel urgent rather than abstract.

Conclusion

KillR is one of the more talked-about small films of the season, and not just because of its one-crore twist challenge. It is a genuine attempt at Telugu science fiction with a female lead at its centre, a twist-driven structure, and a visual ambition that punches above its weight. Not every idea lands perfectly, but the film’s willingness to take risks is exactly what makes it interesting.

For viewers who like science-fiction thrillers, twist-heavy stories, or simply films that try something different, KillR is worth a watch. Go in knowing as little as possible, and let the film’s surprises do their work. Watch it in theatres.
