Plot

Ayogya 2 is the sequel to the 2018 rural hit Ayogya, and it picks up where the first film ended. Sathish Ninasam returns as Siddhegowda, now a Gram Panchayat member, who must learn that winning an election is only the beginning of leadership. His wife Nandini, played by Rachita Ram, wants to pursue a government job, while political rival Bacchegowda, played by P. Ravi Shankar, stands in the way of Siddhegowda’s rise within the Panchayat. The story follows village politics with comedy, romance and action in equal measure.

Around the central pair stands the familiar world of Maragowdanahalli: Sadhu Kokila, Tabla Nani, Sundar Raj, Shivaraj K. R. Pete and others return, with V. Ravichandran making a special appearance that the makers kept secret until the trailer. The film moves between panchayat elections, shifting loyalties, village development and local power struggles, showing how democracy is shaped not in the Assembly but in the Gram Panchayat. It is a sequel that expands its world while keeping its rural flavour intact.

Performance

Sathish Ninasam is once again the film’s strongest link. As Siddhegowda he balances comedy, emotion and action with ease, and his dialogue delivery and comic timing carry the film through its broader stretches. The role suits him: a carefree young man learning, slowly and reluctantly, to take responsibility for a village that trusts him.

Rachita Ram, returning as Nandini, gives the film its warmth and its counterpoint to Siddhegowda’s carelessness, and their chemistry remains one of the series’ pleasures. P. Ravi Shankar is convincing as the scheming rival, while Sadhu Kokila’s comedy and the veteran supporting cast keep the village world lively. V. Ravichandran’s special appearance adds star weight to the second half.

Screenplay and Direction

Director S. Mahesh Kumar, returning to the world he created in 2018, makes Ayogya 2 broader in scope and ambition than the original. The screenplay shifts the focus from winning an election to dealing with the responsibilities that come with power, and it uses that shift to explore panchayat politics with humour and heart. The Mandya flavour, the dialect, the humour and the daily interactions, remains the film’s biggest strength.

The film was made with unusual confidence: the makers deliberately held back the trailer before release, trusting the songs and the first film’s goodwill to bring audiences in, and only unveiled the trailer to celebrate the film completing 25 days in theatres. That gamble paid off with a successful run, and a third instalment has already been announced. As a sequel, Ayogya 2 does what sequels should: it deepens its hero’s journey rather than simply repeating it.

Music

Arjun Janya returns to compose the music, reuniting with the team behind the original film’s popular soundtrack. The songs, released through Anand Audio, carry the film’s rural energy and romance, and they did much of the film’s pre-release talking: with no trailer before release, the music was the campaign. The background score supports the comedy and the action without getting in their way.

For a rural entertainer, music is part of the film’s identity, and Janya understands that. His songs give the village world its colour and the romance its sweetness, and they help Ayogya 2 feel like a continuation of the original rather than a departure from it.

Themes

Ayogya 2 is about what happens after victory. Its hero won the trust of his village in the first film; now he must prove worthy of it, and the film asks whether an idealistic leader can stay true to his principles once he is in power. That question gives the comedy a spine: every joke about panchayat politics is also a comment on how hard it is to govern honestly.

The film also celebrates grassroots democracy. Its central idea is simple and effective: democracy is not shaped only in the Assembly or Parliament; it begins in the Gram Panchayat, where decisions about water, roads and livelihoods are made. By setting its story there, Ayogya 2 gives its comedy a purpose, and its hero a journey worth following.

Conclusion

Ayogya 2 released in cinemas on 7 August 2026 and completed a successful theatrical run, crossing 25 days in around 40 theatres and later hitting the 50-day mark. Critics praised it as an ambitious political sequel with a strong rural flavour, rating it around 3.5 out of 5.

For fans of the original Ayogya, for lovers of rural comedies with a political edge, and for anyone who enjoys Sathish Ninasam and Rachita Ram together, Ayogya 2 is an easy recommendation. Note: the film’s official trailer was unveiled only after release, to mark its 25-day run, and no verified official trailer YouTube link was available for embedding at the time of writing.
